Dementia Hero

For people living with dementia and those who love someone, living with dementia

'Much more of the brain is devoted to movement than to language. Language is only a little thing sitting on top of this huge ocean of movement'. Oliver Sacks

Dementia Hero is proudly an Australian product delivering workshops, using unique and proven non-verbal techniques. Tiina created the successful and highly valued Come Dance With Me program with Christine Bryden, for Dementia Australia in 2014. Tiina Alinen Projects embrace programs which champion the inclusion of all, for the benefit of all.

Dementia Hero workshops are currently delivered in Sandgate throughout 2019. The next cycle of workshops begin on the 15 June at Sandgate Community Hall (Sandbag), beginning at 10.00am. Please register your interest with Sandbag by calling Belinda on 3869 3244. These workshops are supported by Brisbane City Council.

This unique program has been designed collaboratively with people with dementia, to make it truly dementia friendly. It offers wellbeing dance, based on non-verbal conversation through movement, and includes socialisation as well as moderate physical exercise.

The 2 hour class includes a 1/2 hour break for refreshment, cooling down, and socialisation. We aim for a class size of 6 people with dementia and 6 carers, with volunteers on hand to offer assistance as needed.

Our Dementia Hero workshops are organic, inclusive and surprising. Workshop numbers are capped so early bookings are encouraged. We can also create a block of workshops for an existing group and come to you.
